In the movie The Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits. Scrooge did not like Christmas because his partner died on Christmas eve. This caused him to hate Christmas, and become a cold, hearted person. His last visit effected him in an emotional way. It changed the way he looks at the world, and has emotions for the people around him.
Do you ever wonder what our business is as humans? Ebenezer Scrooge is a man who no one enjoys being alone. He does not understand our true business in life. Scrooge thinks our true business is to make money. In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens shows that one’s business in life is to make other’s lives better through the transformation of Scrooge’s emotions.
One song that relates to the theme of Past, Present and Future: The Threat of Time, is Summertime’s End by Weather. This song is about regrets of the past but has a positive outlook of the future. Lyrics of the song include “I’m sorry I did wrong” showing regret of something he did in the past. This relates to the theme because it shows how someone can show regret from past decisions (the threat of time). Scrooge feels this when he visits past Christmases with the Ghost of Christmas Past.
Charles Dickens’ novel “A Christmas Carol” shows the main character Scrooge as being haunted by three spirits on Christmas Eve. Dickens presents these supernatural entities with historic appearances, which have a strong reflection on the character and development of Scrooge. This is often overlooked on first read. The first example of this is the appearance of The Ghost of Christmas Past, which is used by Dickens to physicalize the mentality of Scrooge. The spirit is described as “like a child” and represents the child that is still inside him; It is his childhood that caused him to hate the festive season and he still holds the grudge, that being “a lonely boy” during Christmas set.

At the beginning of the novel “A Christmas carol” Scrooge can be interpreted as an archetypal villain (an extreme stereotype of a villain), this is inferred when Dickens describes Scrooge as an “old sinner”. The quote “old sinner” links in with the description of a villain as a sinner often someone who commits immoral acts regularly whilst disregarding Christian doctrine, considering the time the book was published (1800) committing a sin was a villainous act to do; therefore implying to the reader that Scrooge is a going to be a villainous character throughout the novel. For Instance, in the play, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge, could not see the view of other people towards him. He was unable to show little acts of kindness change help others. In the beginning he was unhelpful, but changed throughout the book and towards the end his views of everything changed.

Ebenezer Scrooge shows no compassion despite how tragic this is for those who are surrounded by poverty. As a rich man, the issue in the paper does not affect him negatively. Instead of feeling bad about what is happening to the penniless, It warms his heart that he will soon be more prosperous.
From this book I learned that sometimes people don’t appreciate what they have or their lives. For example in the book Mr. Scrooge doesn’t like Christmas and doesn 't celebrate it. He doesn’t appreciate the beauty of Christmas until a series of events happen to him. I also learned that people talk about the way you are. If you are a good person, they talk about how good you are, but if you are a bad person, then they talk about how rude or bad you are.
A mean-spirited, miserly old man named Ebenezer Scrooge sits in his counting-house on a frigid Christmas Eve. His clerk, Bob Cratchit, shivers in the anteroom because Scrooge refuses to spend money on heating coals for a fire. Scrooge 's nephew, Fred, pays his uncle a visit and invites him to his annual Christmas party. Two portly gentlemen also drop by and ask Scrooge for a contribution to their charity. Scrooge reacts to the holiday visitors with bitterness and venom, spitting out an angry "Bah! Humbug!"
