In the short story, “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant”, written by W.D Wetherell, there's a young 14 year old boy who goes unnamed throughout the whole story and lives in an old cabin with his family on the edge of the river. The unnamed boy gets a new neighbor and starts developing a crush on them. This girl went by Sheila Mants, and he was bound to impress her. Overall, he’s a flat character. He’s one of the main characters in this story and not much happens in detail with him.

On the Rainy River Analysis One of the most compelling books I’ve read is The Things They Carried. This book is filled with many short stories of the Vietnam war. The Author tells the story from the perspective of the soldiers. This books shows us the sacrifice these men had to give for are freedom. The Things They Carried has many great stories by Tim O’brien, but On The Rainy River was my favorite and seemed to follow the psychological literary lens.

The written records from Joan of Arc’s trials and subsequent interrogations have long been accepted as the leading authority of the words and beliefs of Joan of Arc’s. Karen Sullivan, a professor of literature at Bard College and writer of numerous articles on medieval French literature, challenges the accuracy of these records noting that it was the educated clerics who decided the line of inquiry, decided when the interrogations would take place, and ultimately decided what to include in these transcripts. Sullivan chose to re-reads these accounts as a literary text to look at how the interpretation of Joan’s words from these clerics could have lead to the death of the Maid of Orleans. With her book, The Interrogation of Joan of Arc, Karen argues that the educational differences

In Exile According to Julia and in The Belly of the Atlantic, the narrators of both novels are from French colonized countries and they find that once they emigrate to France they are forced into a borderland. Gisele, of Exile According to Julia, grew up in France but her family and heritage lies in the Caribbean island Guadeloupe. Whereas Salie from The Belly of the Atlantic was from the island Niordior of the African country Senegal. The colonization of these countries by France disrupts the national identity of the women who emigrate to France in Exile According to Julia and The Belly of the Atlantic. This can be seen in the way that Salie and Gisele are othered by those in their community, also in the way that Salie and Gisele develop morals that are seen as “too French,” and through the lives of their friends and family.

The Manifestation of Visualization Inevitably, the world climate often changes and has become an issue that most people tend to ignore and refuse to talk about. In other words, the general population tends to ignore climate-fiction movies and stories because of the way the authors present them. That is, the point of views of the stories, articles or films doesn’t quite grab the attention of the viewers and so, viewers are not able to envision themselves in such environment. After much deliberation, I believe that Helen Simpson’s story “Diary of an Interesting Year” does an effective job emphasizing the issues on global warming due to the frequent usage of the narrator’s deep emotions and internal conflicts.
