In the nursing profession, there are processes used to facilitate quality care, as well as models to show the aspects of how we address this care. Biological Variations This comes down to a biological, gene level, “genetic variations” among different racial organizations (Joyce Newman Giger E. R., 2002). From culture to culture, race to race, there are traceable biological differences. We can use these differences to explore best practice with communication, medications, and care.

E., 2008). When using these terms in relation to how your Hispanic client will communicate with you in the healthcare setting, it is important to know how they view them. These are a good baseline for understanding this culture, and how you may choose to interact with them differently to gain respect, trust, and repour. One major aspect of Hispanics in the healthcare setting, is their value on small talk. Engaging in small talk with your Hispanic clients will help to “facilitate accomplishing nursing objectives” (Joyce Newman Giger R. E., 2008). It is okay and encouraged when communicating among this culture to use touch and padding to aid the crying child (Joyce Newman Giger R. E., 2008). They view it as respect and caring; healing hands. Sometimes sarcasm can be misinterpreted, and viewed as disrespectful (Joyce Newman Giger R. E., 2008), so be apprehensive to use sarcasm in client interaction. Always use friendly facial expression (Joyce Newman Giger R. E., 2008) when working with a client, and make use of a translator when needed to aid in the comfort of your client.
