Have you ever wondered if a murder case has the same outcome as every other murder case? The answer to that question is no. The reason for this is because each case has different outcomes depending on certain topics throughout the trial. These topics include the trial setup, the evidence presented, the society attitude, and the important events that took place while the case was occurring. After comparing two different murder cases, the West Memphis Three trial and Casey Anthony trial, one can learn that the influences happening throughout the society and how well the evidence is presented will help predict the outcome of the case. The evidence that was provided during the West Memphis Three case was more of “it could be true” types of ideas instead of a direct path leading to one of the boys. Yes, some of the evidence was persuasive, but it could have been pointed to many different people in the city. Examples of the evidence that was used in the court case included: they wore black clothing, they were supposedly part of a satanic cult, they listened to heavy music, and a knife was found behind Jason Baldwin’s house. These groups of people are influenced by the attitudes of each other and how they interact. The society can believe what they want and can be easily swayed to either side of the trial. This helps the jury think even deeper on what they believed really happened. The attitude towards each one of these cases were very similar, but they had different outcomes. During the West Memphis Three trial the society was against the three boys and believed they were the actual murders. They believed this right from the beginning of the trial without looking closer at the evidence. These boys were found as guilty until better technology and better professors got involved that influenced thousands of people that the three boys were actually innocent. During the Casey Anthony trial the media and people in the society were angered about the murder case and were against her, but there were also many people that believed she never did such a thing.
