the movie A Green Mile, a main character is Paul Edgecomb. Paul is the lead correctional officer in charge of death row inmates at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. Paul makes an excellent leader because he has traits that are essential to good leadership. He is kind, respected and non-judgmental. To be a good leader it is important to be kind. Paul is a very kind and caring man. As one of the inmates, Eduard Delacroix, is about to be taken to his execution, he asks Paul to take care of his pet ‘trick’ mouse, Mr. Jingles. Del was very worried and upset about making sure Mr. Jingles would be put into good hands. Paul agrees and tells Del that the mouse will go to a lovely mouse field where he will be cared for and appreciated for his talent. The “mouse field” did not exist but Paul made it up so that Del could find some piece of mind and not worry about what would happen to the mouse after he was gone. Paul makes an excellent leader because he is much respected in his workplace. Paul could make a decision or give an order and his coworkers would obey because they honor his choices and trust his decisions. In the movie, Paul asks his men if they would help him take John Coffey out of the prison and to the wardens’ house to heal his wife who has a brain tumor. The men know they could get in a lot of trouble for this as well as putting their lives in danger …show more content…

Even though the inmate are in the death row for horrible reasons, Paul still treats them with the same attitude he would any other person. John Coffey asks Paul if he could leave a light on at night time because John is afraid of the dark. Paul understood this and allowed the corridor light to remain on each night. After Percy Wetmore had been frightened by an inmate, he had an accident and had relieved himself in his pants. Percy was embarrassed and was afraid to be seen as a coward. Paul agreed to not tell anyone and made the others agree
