When reading Bernard Nietschmann’s, “Subsistence and Market: When the turtle Collapses” explains the effects of long term hunting of the green turtle in the Caribbean waters. He describes in depth the effects on the communities social and mental state as well as showing the effects of the influences of outside fisheries on the Miskito’s. The site of all this takes place in Caribbean waters of the coast of Nicaragua. The coast is a very abundant place for the Miskito.
The sources that I read were about a brilliant man called David Bushnell who made the Turtle. His brother,Erza, is the one who actually the one who first tried use the Turtle. It also has that his nbrother although he failed his objective still succeded because they saw him as he fleed and then decided that it would be best to leave because next time they might actually suceed so they didn 't take any chances so they left. These sources are different perspectives of what happens.

The Turtle served as the example for all the submarines that exist today. The Turtle started with a man named David Bunshell. He was a genius inventor who had an idea for a boat which travelled under water. This boat would travel under water and would need to be stealthy and have enough firepower to destroy a boat traveling on the surface of the water. In college, Bunshell started to build land mines and torpedoes for the purpose that the Turtle would later accomplish.

Chapter 3 (pgs 20-22): This chapter is primarily narrative about a land turtle. In the story the turtle is meet with various obstacles and overcomes them in the end. It 's a hot day and the turtle makes his way up one side of the highways. As the turtle crosses the black pavement, tow cars pass.
They headed for Lake o’ the Cherokees. Turtle called out “Mama” at the sight of cemeteries but grasped the idea that Turtle’s mother had died. Esperanza and Estevan portrayed Turtle’s actual parents in front of a legal advisor who grants Taylor adoption papers. Esperanza and Estevan are dropped off at a sanctuary in Oklahoma. The relationship between Taylor and Turtle demonstrates how people need the generosity and empathy of others in order to survive. In the beginning of the novel, Turtle starts out as an unhealthy and uncooperative child. “‘Sometimes in an environment of physical or emotional deprivation a child will simply stop growing…’ ‘ But she’s thriving now…’
A few chapters into the book we get to know a little more about Turtle and find out about the abuse she suffered. Taylor freaks out when Turtle is almost kidnapped at the park and says, “ I’ve just spent the last eight or nine months trying to convince her that nobody would hurt her again. Why would she believe me now?” (p. 226) Taylor grew
In the book, Turtles All the Way Down, by John Green the main character, Aza, an anxious teenager and her best friend, Daisy go on some sort of adventure to find a missing rich kid, Davis pickett. At first Aza wasn’t going to go looking for him although she had known him personally before. After Daisy encouraged her with the reward Aza decided to go through with the plan. Aza was in need of money for her upcoming departure to college. The main theme of this story is that you can’t choose how to live your own life.
In this essay that Ken Saxon writes, he talks about the liberal arts approach to college. He goes back and gives examples from his own life and how his college and after college careers played out. He is attempting to reach out to college students and high school students who are about to go to college. His purpose is to get more students to take a liberal arts approach to college. I plan to break down Saxon’s essay and see if he has anything that is helpful for me, as I get ready for college in the next year.
Towards the end of the story, some teenagers visit the turtle. He is happy by this because he hadn’t been visited in a while. Things were different, the music hurt his ears. The teens see the turtle and begin to over him with spray paint. In this story, the change that the turtle is seeing symbolizes the change the Native Americans had to face.
There is a variety of different sports, including cheerleading. Imagine playing a sport such as basketball or football, with nobody to cheer athletes on or motivate players to win. Most high schools with football or basketball teams also have cheerleaders. Whether cheerleading is a sport or not is a well known issue, likely to be discussed. The enthusiastic girls with pom-poms, white shoes, and skirts, those are cheerleaders.
World on Turtle 's Back fulfill the aspects of a traditional Native American creation story. The Iroquois people still consider the story the guide for how to live and thrive in the natural world. The deep rooted connections to nature and animals that has been held by many native tribes relates back to the initial actions taken by the first woman. The twins who symbolized the balance in nature and in humans have parallels all over the world. They are the representation of the constant battle for dominance that wages in the minds of all people.
Have you ever wondered how Native Americans believe the world came to be? Both stories include the elements that make the world balanced. The stories “World on the Turtle's Back” and “The Menominee” both include the importance of nature and animals. Also, their beliefs on what makes things good and evil. Finally, they include how the gods created man, woman, and earth.
