Throughout the story, we see several journal entries from Harmon who reveals weakness through his words but not his actions. Clearly, if someone were to show weakness during adversity, there would be negative consequences in the future.

The mood of the text is the atmosphere created by the author, and the author uses certain words and phrases in order to portray hostility to the reader. For example, Serling shows an aggressive mood when the stage directions state, “He stands there perspiring, rumpled, blood running down from a cut on the cheek.” The author conveys a hostile mood by using word choice that creates a feeling of tension, drama, and violence by using the words “perspiring,” “rumpled,” and “blood.”
In “The Most Dangerous Game” the author, Richard Connell, proves to the reader, The Cossack Russian purchaser of Ship-trap Island, General Zaroff, is corrupt. General Zaroff shows his corrupt state by presenting his barbaric, merciless, and uncivilized attributes. General Zaroff shows these traits by pulling Sanger Rainsford into his demented game of hunting and killing humans. From the exposition to his death, General Zaroff presents his most obvious traits, one being his barbarianism. In the text General Zaroff states “he is Cossack, so am I” (Connell 3).
At the beginning of the novel, sixteen-year-old Steve Harmon’s life dramatically changed. The teenager was arrested and charged with the murder of a Harlem drugstore owner. Although Steve was presumably not the actual killer, his role as a supposed "lookout" for the gang that committed the crime ultimately landed him in prison. What I learned from your book, Into the Wild, was that Chris McCandless, also known as Alexander Supertramp is a well known person for his expedition to Alaska with nothing on hand. He had no need for fundamental items as he lived in freedom and nature. He disliked controlling figures, the government and some may even say his parents. He began anew when he left college and donated all his money to charity to live in the wild.
The novel Grendel by John Gardner and poem “pity this busy monster, manunkind” by e.e. cummings both comment on the danger of human progress against nature. Both authors agree that human society has transcended the need for survival and has reached a point of destruction of themselves and the environment. In a modern and classic context the message remains that human industry is rarely for the good of nature. In “pity this busy monster, manunkind” the commenting is direct, focusing on a cancer of humanity, progress that is opposition to nature. While John Gardner uses characters like Grendel and the Dragon to describe a hyper-intelligent and omniscient view of human industry and thought.

Prometheus is characterized as “devious” (Theogony lines 511 and 521), his actions are described using verb forms of “deceive” (lines 537 and 565), and his deed of giving Zeus the bad parts of the meal are labeled as a “trick” (lines 547, 550, 551, 560, and 562). Hesiod briefly mentions that Prometheus gave the good parts of the meal to the humans, but only as a supplement to the main point, which is that Prometheus wanted to sneakily give Zeus the bad parts of the meal.
