Steve Jobs, who is known as one of the greatest innovators of our time, had given a speech in 2005 to new graduates from Stanford. As many would find this ironic since he never graduated from college, but by the end of the speech they have realized why he was there to give the speech. He successfully gives the speech by using multiple rhetorical devices such as repetition of life experiences as well as common emotion that everyone consists of. By using those, his goals are to have the new graduates continue through life by doing what they love to do no matter what obstacles comes across their life. Jobs first starts off his speech with this quote “I never graduated from college. Not only does he use this quote to start of humorous but as well as to give him an open gateway for the rest of his speech Throughout the speech Jobs gives the audience three stories of his past, but directly titles each story with a distinguish name. By doing so he engages the audience with curiosity, emotional feeling in every way possible. He effectively does to question the audiences mind, and to prove that you can overcome anything if you put your mind to it. The first speech which he titles “connection the dots” stumbles the audience with how could this be relevant to us? Where is he going? The audience sitting in curiosity just waits for him to give the story and see how they can connect it to them. He starts off with an emotional appeal talking about how his mother gave him up for adoption, but as he said it he made her look like a great woman
