A Tribute Speech Analysis

After reviewing my tribute speech about my son Scott, I noticed details that at the moment I did not realize what I was doing wrong. I noticed I sway through the entire presentation and played with the paper a lot as well as playing with my hair and earing at 3 minutes and again at 6 minutes and 43 seconds into the speech. Not only was I guilty of these issues, I also realized my organization was a little off kilter. I rushed through the speech along with not looking up from the paper as much as I should have and I need to work on my pronunciation. Looking back at my presentation it was obvious that I was extremely nervous, making me sway back and forth along with playing with my earrings. I have a habit of not being able to stand still but when the nerves kick in it only makes it worse. On a few of the evaluation sheets, it was noted that it would have been better if only I had used index cards instead of full sheets of paper. After watching how much I played with the paper I would most certainly agree with the index cards. Maybe by not having full sheets of paper I will play with them less. I believe in order for me to get out of these bad habits I need to find a way to calm myself down before the speech. In the introduction I stated that Scott taught me strength first then went on to patience, and how to appreciate life. However when reading the body of the speech I started with patience instead of strength. At the time of writing the outline I felt because my introduction started with talking about a strong person I had to put strength first. As I listened to the speech I realized I could have put a little more detail into the introduction and reorganized the main points that I go on to explain. In my next outline I will use the information I received in class about writing out the body of the speech first then go on the
