I think Julie's behavior is unprofessional and unethical due to the fact being medical assistant only and not a doctor. For that reason any medical staff including Julie face ethical issues in a medical office on the daily basis. Core Values and Ethical Principles The six core values recognized by the NASW Code of Ethics are: service, social justice, dignity and worth of person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence (NASW, 2008). These values are defined and expanded upon, and are then listed as ethical principles. Several of these principles apply to this case.

Generally, the Christian perspective supports the ACA ethical guidelines and counseling. First, in the Bible it states many times the wicked counsel of men (Jeremiah 7:24; Isaiah 29:15; Isaiah 8:10, ESV). Does this mean we are not to counsel? It is saying those that do not listen to God’s counsel are wicked or are going backward. As a Christian counselor we are in tuned to God’s word and in prayer with Him.
When reading the IAMFC Code of Ethics and AAMFT Code of Ethics I found that they compare significantly, much more than they contrast. Many of the principals coincide. For example, the topic of multiple relationships is one of the many principles that parallel in many codes of ethics. The IAMFC Code of Ethics encourages family counselors to “avoid whenever possible multiple relationships, such as business, social, or sexual contacts with any current clients or family members” (Section A). Similarly, the AAMFT Code of Ethics also requires that therapists “make every effort to avoid conditions and multiple relationships with clients that could impair professional judgment or increase the risk of exploitation.
The North Carolina State Board of Education outlines the professional standards to which teaches should uphold within, and even outside of, the classroom. These standards are comprised of the commitment to the student, commitment to the school, and commitment to the profession. The NCDA Code of Ethics standard E.1.a explains the counselor’s responsibility in explaining the assessments purpose as well as the validity and reliability of the measure (NCDA, 2015). Before I administer the assessment, there are two aspects I need to make sure are functional, which are the environment and the technology. The ACA Code of Ethics, standard E.7.b explains how the counselor must provide an appropriate environment for clients when administering assessments (ACA, 2014).
