I am going to be doing a comparison on multiple relationships under the Ethics Codes for Psychologist section 3.05, and The Association for Addiction Professionals section l-11. They both seem to be pretty consistent with each other with a few minor differences. In the NAADAC l-11 it states that “addiction professionals shall make every effort to avoid multiple relationships with a client” (NAADAC: The Association for Addiction Professionals NCC AP: The National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals CODE OF ETHICS: Approved 10.09.2016).
When taking an oath to be a pharmacist, an EMT, or a physician, one takes an oath to serve humanity. The North Carolina State Board of Education outlines the professional standards to which teaches should uphold within, and even outside of, the classroom. These standards are comprised of the commitment to the student, commitment to the school, and commitment to the profession. Also, the Code of Ethics includes the professional conduct which entails, honesty, the acknowledgement of the rights of others, keeping information confidential, and compliance of criminal laws (NC State Board of Education, 1998). This article on ethics was really interesting and a dilemma that is prevalent within criminal justice. In the article Dr. Steven Davis recognized that students cheating in high school increased by 20% in the 1940 to 75% today. Davis stated, "If students lack ethics in high school and college, then there should be little surprise that they lack ethics in their careers. (2008). " This observation by Davis holds some value, because individuals that is willing to cheat to get ahead, definitely has no problem crossing ethical lines, because in their mind the wrong is acceptable, just as it was when they cheated.

Counselors must be aware of their ethical and legal obligations when providing counseling services, such as those related to crisis prevention and intervention. This knowledge can guide the counselor in making appropriate decisions to best assist the client. The American Counseling Association Code of Ethics (2014) provides counselors with the core principles of autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice and fidelity to guide them in decisions making. Furthermore, the following ACA (2014) ethical codes are applicable to crisis counseling: A.1.a. Primary responsibility.
The ACA Code of Ethics is a set of standards for professional helpers to follow. The Code “reflects the counseling profession’s understanding of the responsibilities inherent in the covenantal relationship with society” (Ponton & Duba, 2009). This Code is a set of standards to basically keep everyone on the same page when working with clients. Upon reading the Code, I was intrigued with the Bartering component found in section A.10.d. I did not realize that bartering was allowed at such a professional level.
The two professional and ethical standards that I’ll be talking about will be the ACA code of ethics and the ASCA ethical standards for school counselors. Both in my opinion had some lessons that were similar to each other. The mission of the ACA is to promote human life and enhance the quality of life as well as establishing professional counselors (2014). In the ACA preamble, it says it is an educational and professional organization with members involved in all types of work settings. In the ASCA ethical standards for school counselors preamble, it says it is also a professional organization but their members are licensed or certified school counselors only.
Profession Code of Ethics Comparison As a social work student, we are provided with the foundational education necessary to succeed in our profession. The National Association of Social Work (NASW) Code of Ethics is the most significant publication because it “is intended to serve as a guide to the everyday professional conduct of social workers” (NASW Code of Ethics, 2017). For this assignment, we are charged with exploring other professional codes of ethics to gain a better understanding of how they may be similar or differ from one another. Therefore, I choose to explore the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics with the intention of conducting a comparison analysis of both documents.
Compare and Contrast Codes of Ethics Principles guide the nature and culture of professional associations that their members must agree to follow. These principles or codes of ethics give the members of this association a framework that helps them operate to the highest standard of professional excellence and offers their clients information on what to expect when working with them. ICF and IAC fall into the category of such a professional association, the codes of both these organizations are compared and contrasted below. Similarities and Differences: There are similarities and differences ICF and IAC code of ethics.

According to the International Ethical Business Registry, there has been a dramatic increase in the ethical expectations of businesses and professions over the past ten years. Increasingly, customers, clients and employees are deliberately seeking out those who define the basic ground rules of their operations on a day to day. Volkswagen is no different, hence it created its own code of ethics in order to improve the company’s operation all over the world.
I reached out to Morgan Packard, managing editor of New Orleans Magazine and editor of St. Charles Avenue, to talk about how she handled receiving gifts or hanging out together on a theoretical “no-strings attached” basis. The interview led to an interesting conversation that proved ethics defined by the Society of Professional Journalists can be quite flexible as long as the journalist closely toes the line. It also showed that here is really no set rules to ethics and that it honestly depends on how strong a person’s code of ethics is and what situation he or she is in.
Marriage and Family Therapist, and AAMFT members have an obligation to be familiar with the AAMFT Code of Ethics and its application to their professional services. (Caldwell, 2015) While utilizing the PAIR instrument, it important for therapist to understand while intimacy is the topic of discussion, it is important not to get involved romantically with client or client’s family members in any way. Having sexual relationships with a client(s) will violate AAMFT’s code of Ethics 1.4 Sexual Intimacy with Current Clients and Others that states sexual intimacy with current clients or with known members of the client’s family system is prohibited and code 1.5 Sexual Intimacy with Former Clients and Others that states sexual intimacy with former clients or with known members of the client’s family system is prohibited.
