The AIM Planning process consists of three important elements. The first element is audience analysis. In this step, one must put themselves in their audience's "shoes", think of their needs, wants, their values and priorities, what they are thinking and feeling, and how their reaction will impact relationships (Cardon, 2013). In order to make sure that our messages are communicated clearly, thoroughly, and transparently, with no misunderstandings; one must make sure that we are creating and perfecting that message for that specific audience. To do this, according to Cardon, 2013, states that we must first identify reader benefits and constraints, consider reader values and priorities, estimate personal credibility, anticipate reactions, and consider secondary audiences (p. 120).

The second step in this process involves idea development. In this stage, it is important to ask questions, gather data, and analyze that data properly to make sound judgments and conclusions. In this process, one must first …show more content…

This comes after one has analyzed their audience in terms of their priorities, values, wants, and needs, and after idea development. When one gets down to crafting their message, its important to begin with identifying and framing the primary message and setting up the logic with supporting points and a call to action.
In order to frame the primary message, one must make sure they understand what the primary message is, and what kind of simple statement one can make to get one's point across (Cardon, 2013). The second part of message structuring is setting up the logic of the message. To do this, one must realize what the key points are, what are the supporting points? Also, what is going to be the call to action, what does one want their readers to do (Cardon, 2013)? When one puts these concepts together, one can properly set up and frame their message for their audience's
