The APA general ethical principles were created to motivate psychologists to always provide the most ethical care to their patients. While they are not standards that represent ethical obligations, they are at the forefront of the ethical component of the psychological field and play a significant role in how psychologists approach their career. While each principle is highly important, the principle E, Respect for People’s Rights and Dignity, is the most influential and important.
