In 2015, AT&T then decided to enter into a new market base of products and services with the purchase of DIRECTV. With the acquisition of DIRECTV and their current U-verse service, it allowed AT&T to become the largest paid television provider.
AT&T continues to strive to be the leading provider for their business and consumer customers. This has been accomplished by offering them the internet for their home and business, securing business communications from the smartphone to the cloud…and making cars, homes, machines, even cities smarter (Company History, 2017).
The pending purchase of Time Warner will allow AT&T to continue to expand into a different market space. As stated on the AT&T website,

It’s imperative to be aware which corporate processes can be implemented within the local office. Another important challenge is,
“Communicating across barriers. Communication can be a challenge in any setting; it is more complex and even more essential to communicate effectively when you are operating from a distance” (Global Leaders, 2017). Communication can become an issue if the CEO doesn’t take into account how the language barrier can be challenging for both himself and those he’s communicating with. If he doesn’t, there’s a good chance of offending others with the words he uses or his non-verbal cues with body language. Therefore, to become an effective leader, it’s critical he does his research specific to the country and culture he’s communicating with.
Finally, ethical leadership is critical to be an effective leader. According to Northouse
(2015), “ethical leadership is a process by which a good person rightly influences others to accomplish a common good: to make the world better, fairer, and more humane”. As CEO,
