In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller was a chaos between the Salem town and witchcraft. This play took place during the witch trails in Salem. Which the witch trials were a bunch of hearings and prostitutions of people accused of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts in the spring of the year 1962. Abigail Williams was responsible for witchcraft because she was a liar, a manipulator, and an accuser.
Abigail Williams is a seventeen-year-old girl. She had an affair with Proctor who was once her boss until his wife found out about them and fired her. Then Abigail tried getting back at Goody Proctor by drinking blood and vowing against her. Which brings the first reason Abigail was responsible for witchcraft. Abigail is responsible for witchcraft because she was a liar. Abigail is a lair because she told Hale and Paris that Tituba forced the girls drink blood “she makes me drink blood” (Miller 187). This quote shows that Abigail wasn’t forced and neither were the rest of the girls. Tituba did give them blood but it was chicken blood but she didn’t force anyone to drink the blood. Abigail choose to drink the blood and drank it against Elizabeth Proctor.

Abigail is an accuser because she accused Tituba for making her drink blood against her own will and doing witchcraft. Abigail also blamed Elizabeth for stabbing her by sending her spirit with a poppet that was made by Mary Warren the Proctors’ current maid and Abigail was stabbed where Mary left the needle on the poppet. “… ask Abby, Abby sat beside me when I made it” (Miller 76). This quote shows that Abigail sabotage Elizabeth with the poppet that was made by Mary and took the chance to stab herself where Abigail saw that Mary placed the needle and accused Elizabeth’s spirit for stabbing
