In the Crucible, there are a lot of people who did wrong things. Let’s take John Proctor, John Proctor did a wrong doing thing and then asked for a Forgiveness. John Proctor has a two kids who help him everyday on the farm and a wife, but John Proctor got into an affair with a girl name Abigail William and she wants to marry with John Proctor, however it lacks the capacity to forgive Himself. John Proctor has Succumb Sin and he commitss the adultery and asked for forgiveness.
Abigail is seeking Elizabeth’s death by framing her for witchcraft. Abigail is jealous that Elizabeth is the wife of John Proctor and she has become vindictive. John affirmed that Abigail and he were once in love and stated, “She thinks to dance with me on my wife’s grave!” (Miller 1333).
I believe that Abigail Williams is responsible for the witchcraft in Salem. She is guilty of several offenses. She lied to her uncle about what she was doing in the woods. She drank blood to kill Elizabeth Proctor. She also committed adultery with Elizabeth’s husband John Proctor.
A logical fallacy is an error in reasoning, it is done manipulatively, and it is done on purpose to target people’s ignorance and stupidity. The statement being claimed might appear to be truthful or accurate, but due to an error on the claim it is not considered to be truthful nor accurate. There are various types of logical fallacies, and they are structured to help you identify misleading statements and recognize that there is an error in the information. The trial of Elizabeth Proctor does fit into the idea of logical fallacy.
My Escape Plan Abigail Williams doesn’t want to stay in salem anymore. I Mercy Lewis do not want to stay in Salem either. The whole town appears scared of us, especially Abigail Williams. The girls and I fear Abigail the most, the whole reason we’re in this mess is because we got dragged into it by her. There was no way to escape her, no way out until now.
But the girls say that she is spreading her wings to attack them and they repeat everything she says. Also John Proctor commits to committing adultery with Abigail. Then they bring in Goody Proctor to confess if he actually committed adultery with Abigail. But Goody Proctor lies to protect her husband and says that he hasn't committed adultery without her knowing that John Proctor has confessed everything that he has done. Therefor he will be hanged along with Goody Proctor and the rest of the people that were accused of
At this point Elizabeth knows about John and Abigail. Elizabeth has been accused of witchcraft and john is fighting to get her out of jail. Abigail has accused Elizabeth for witchcraft and John didn’t like it so he went to the court. He tells the court what he had done with abigail and that he knew it was wrong and he is trying to make it right.
They were all suspects for witchcraft. Abigail swore that they were not doing anything other than dancing and singing in the woods. Mary Warren and John Proctor have a discussion about Abigail. Mary believes that Abigail tried to kill Elizabeth because she wanted John for herself. Elizabeth Proctor gets accused of witchcraft when Reverend Hale discovers a
Her main target, Elizabeth Proctor. Once John figures out that the “witchcraft” is just a ploy by Abigail, he is reluctant to tell anyone of it. Because his pride and fear of the public’s opinion has compelled him to withhold this information from the court. That is until, Elizabeth is accused and is taken to court. Once his wife is taken, John is willing to go to any
But John just said before Elizabeth came in that he did commit adultery and Elizabeth knows about it too and that the court should bring her in to test her to see if shes guilty because Elizabeth never lies. But she did lie and say he was a good man. That is when Abigail screams and says she sees a bird thats trying to attack her she says that it is Mary, when obviously it wasn’t it was just all an illusion to overthrow the court once again. That is where Mary steps in after a while and joins and overthrows that act to get her out from being killed. All the other girls join in and repeat everything Mary says because if they don’t Abigail will turn against them and accuse them of witchcraft.
Abigail believed that Proctor actually loved her and she waited every night for him. She was brainwashed to think he would leave his wife for her. The witchcraft accusation came from the beginning of the story when Abigail and the girls were dancing naked in the woods and chanting. She made false accusations that people in the village were worshipping the devil to cover what she had done. Many lives were taken but Abigail had no empathy for anyone who was hanged.
(I.465-472). Seeing Abigail cry, it suggests that Abigail’s affair with John Proctor has influenced her behavior in jealousy and lust as she strives for nothing more than her love for John Proctor. By only being heartbroken, Abigail is not to be fully blamed for the hysteria within the town as her actions are only based on desperate attempts to win John Proctor over, and no intentional harm whatsoever. However, on the other hand, Abigail cannot be excused with outside forces making her the way she is due to the fact that she has clearly had a choice in most of her decisions and actions throughout the witchcraft crisis. When Mary Warren, another girl involved in the forest incident, enters the court, she explains to Danforth, the judge, that the girls are lying and are only pretending to see spirits.
Seven months before the play began, Abigail Williams worked for the Proctor household until John Proctor and Abigail Williams began to engage in an affair. John’s wife, Elizabeth Proctor, soon found out and fired Abigail on the spot, but the situation did not end without any consequences. Abigail had developed angry feelings against Elizabeth and fell hopelessly in love with John Proctor. Abigail holds a hope in her heart that John loves her and John will leave Elizabeth for her, despite John Proctors’ constant rejections to Abigail. So when an opportunity to get rid of Elizabeth comes up in the form of power to accuse people of witchcraft, Abigail jumps at the chance.
In life you have to live with the consequences of the decisions that you make. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, John Proctor has to live with the consequences of his affair with Abigail Williams when he confesses it to the court publicly and he has to live with the consequences of what Elizabeth(his wife) does or says about the affair. Abigail Williams would have had to live with the consequences of her actions the night she and the other girls danced in the woods if she had confessed to doing witchcraft that night. The consequences of the people who did not confess to witchcraft, even though they were innocent, was that they were to be hanged. The play The Crucible takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692; it is about the Salem witch
In Act II, it states, “ Hale: why...why did you keep this? Proctor: I never knew until tonight that the world is gone daft with this nonsense.” This quote explains that Proctor knew the truth about the girls but didn’t go to the court to confront them. This is Proctor’s biggest mistake this decision results in tragic events that take place in the future of this play. These events include, the girls accusing some of the townspeople of witchcraft, and the hangings.
