Can one girl make an entire town go crazy about witchcraft? Based on the facts found in the book “The Crusible”, most would say that many could be held responsible for the mass witchcraft hysteria. However, I strongly believe that Abigail Williams is the most responsible for the salem witch trials. Not only does she lie to the court and town’s people she also manipulates a few girls to go along with her plan. At first, Abigail lies to the court and town’s people about Tituba and Goody Proctor, resulting in them to go to jail and many deaths in the town.
Abigail is to be blamed a lot, because she seduced John Proctor even though he had a wife. Elizabeth found out about the affair and Elizabeth told Abigail not to mess with her husband or she will regret it. Abigail confesses to withcraft saying that she gave her soul to the devil. She convinced other girls to cast spells with Tituba. She carefully planned the way she accused people in the community of withcraft , so she could be credible when she accused Elizabeth.
Abigail A 17 year old girl who portrays herself to be sweet and kind, but is truly not what everything thinks she is. Abigail at one time worked in Proctor’s home. She was dismissed from Proctor’s home because Elizabeth found out what was going on. Abigail started to point fingers at people and telling lies to get back at Proctor. Abigail’s pay back to him affects everyone.
Although Abigail Williams does not physically appear in Act 2, her presence is felt throughout The Crucible. She affects and hurts the lives of her family. She is the main source of trouble. If she wants something, she'll get it. At the beginning, there is a lot of closeness between her and the proctor family.
She is mean. She shows that she is mean by threatening the lives of the girls if they say anything about witchcraft. “Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word, about the other things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you” (act 1 line 460) She also shows that she is mean when she is coping Mary making the pastors in the court believe that Mary is a witch. “
Abigail is the most unforgivable character because of her actions that forced innocent people to get hurt. For example, she has an obsession towards John Proctor before and after their affair, and will do anything to get him to acknowledge her again. Abigail shows her
Abigail uses the fact that every person shes accused has been a witch to secure her position as a trust worth witness in court. As seen when the suspension is raised to her, Abigail says, “I have been hurt, Mr. Danforth; I see my blood running out! I have been near to murdered every day because I have done my duty pointing out the Devil’s people -- and this is my reward? To be mistrusted, denied, questioned like a --” (113). She uses the fact that there is a perceived danger in callout witches as one can try to kill her because they feel threated or that she 's been hurt by witchcraft when it was just self-inflicted wounds.
Abigail Williams In the play "The Crucibles" by Arthur Miller, Abigail Williams was not such a good Puritan woman. She was a very young and gorgeous women but had sinned a lot against her Puritan religion. Abigail definitely did not make the right decisions for herself. She is an magnificent liar and tends to get others in trouble to save herself from getting caught.
People commonly say cliches like "good will always win" and "the truth will always prevail"; however, when led by a controlling governing power and manipulated by religion these statements can be proven untrue. In The Crucible, Abigail causes problems throughout the town by lying about witchcraft. She is seen as a reliable source and uses this to her advantage to manipulate people and accuse women of witchcraft. Abigail continuously lies with the intentions to pursue her past relationship with John, despite his many attempts to reveal the truth and get the town to see through her lies. Many people end up being hanged due to Abigail's deceit.
Abigail is the most unforgivable character in The Crucible. In the 17th century two hundred people were accused of participating in witchcraft. Nineteen of those people lost their lives to the mass hysteria. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, there were a group of girls that started a huge disturbance in Salem, Massachusetts when they start talking about Salem members messing with the Devil. In the play it shows what happened when you start a mass hysteria and how dangerous it can be.
Abigail The Victim In the Crucible many are to blame for the events that occurred, but one of the one’s who seems to take blame the most is Abigail Williams. She holds most of the responsibility because she was to blame for the girls meeting with Tituba in the woods. When Parris located the girls in the woods, Abigail tries to hide her behavior because she fears that it will uncover her affair with Proctor if she confesses that she attempted to cast a spell on his wife, Elizabeth. Abigail also lies to avoid being punished for witchcraft.

Lately there have been accusations of witchcraft going throughout Salem. Originally, I was part of the cause of these accusations. I did anything Abigail told me to do and kept it a secret that we did more than dance the night we were caught in the woods. If I were to tell the truth about everything that happened, Abigail has promised to bring harm to me, but if I keep her secret, innocent people could be unnecessarily executed. I have thought over and over about what I should do when I go in front of the judge.
One common question about The Crucible is how Abigail Williams is the most evil force in the play. It is shocking when a girl talks back to authority out of disagreement, but few go as far as Abigail Williams. While she may only be 11 years old, her manipulative and vengeful personality allows her fool her Uncle and later turns a whole town against each other. She is really a master of manipulation and trickery, and she gets herself into affairs without punishment and has threaten all who oppose here. Abigail really is the devil in human form.
To Begin with as a reader of the crucible you we could say that Abigail one of Abigail's biggest flaws was that she was a very lustful character. For example,
