Lately there have been accusations of witchcraft going throughout Salem. Originally, I was part of the cause of these accusations. I did anything Abigail told me to do and kept it a secret that we did more than dance the night we were caught in the woods. If I were to tell the truth about everything that happened, Abigail has promised to bring harm to me, but if I keep her secret, innocent people could be unnecessarily executed. I have thought over and over about what I should do when I go in front of the judge. She has attempted to get many people in trouble to save herself or just out of jealousy. For example, when the town began to question if she was acquainted with the devil, she put all of the blame on Tituba. She told them that Tituba had forced her to laugh during prayers and do other things that were frowned upon. Abigail has ruined many people’s lives with her lies and she needs to be stopped. Next, Elizabeth and every other woman that has been falsely accused of being a witch should have justice. These people have done nothing wrong and may be killed over it. If I had never helped Abigail give Elizabeth the poppet, she may be free right now. I feel that I owe her my help and I know that I owe the court and the town my honesty. My confession may save lives and bring justice to those who deserve it. Finally, I am going to confess to the court that there are no witches in Salem in order to prove to the town that I am with God. I have lied in the past, but I have chosen to tell the truth from now on. I will show the court that I desire to be a godly person by being honest even when I am being threatened by Abigail. This bravery will surely prove to them that I have no reason to lie anymore. I will be seen as an honest woman that is good in God’s
