Arthur Miller’s play, The Crucible, is seen as a true piece of American Literature that presents itself at the core of McCarthyism in the bitter wake of Communists spies inside the United States. In many cases the main character of Abigail Williams is considered secondary to that of John Proctor. However, many years later, Miller writes a screenplay for the 1996 film adaptation starring Hollywood heavyweights like Winona Ryder; whose portrayal seems to allow the character of Abigail to have more room to expand. It is to my opinion that the author does this to present a more rapid and truthful motif that differs from that of the 1950 ‘witch hunt’ for communists. It is shown in the differing aspects of Abigail’s character from play to screen,
It is crazy how things were, so strict about the religions long ago. The times of “The Crucible” everyone would be guilty of being a witch. According i think Abigail William is responsible for witchcraft. Reasons are is because, one she have lied to everyone in the village just to make herself innocent. Second, she have broken many rules and because of that it made her look guilty.

In Salem at the time it was a modest town brimming with Puritans. In the town of Salem, little secrets, jealousy and massive hysteria spread around the town.
Gross corruption is when somebody is willing to procure anything out of greed or selfishness to gain money and power. One of many examples from “The Crucible” is Abigail Williams, Reverend Parris’s niece, she wants to be with John Proctor, but she is willing to anything to get rid of his wife, Elizabeth Proctor. Out of envy, Abigail accused Elizabeth of witchcraft, knowing that Goody Proctor would be executed. Envy is one of the toxins in our society today, and my assumption to get rid of envy is to praise each other, and be more grateful for what we possessed. Instead of bring another person down, bring yourself up, and work harder.
Adolescent minds are the most intelligent kind of mind. A young brain is filled with creativity, imagination and innocence. Though the thought process of a teen is assumed to be selfish there are other factors involved. A combination of these characteristics seems almost dangerous. One would undermine a juvenile to use these qualities to manipulate the court for their own selfish wishes or pleasures.

In the Crucible Abigail Williams was a harlot. A harlot is a prostitute (whore) or promiscous woman.
Deriving from her childhood, Abigail Williams seeked the attention and affiliation she never received as young girl. From this she was the prime reason for the hysteria and problems arousing from her town. She manipulated, lusted, and used her evil desires to send 19 innocent people to their deathbed all for her own satisfaction. She never attempted to mend the broken relationships she caused because she knew there was no turning back from her actions. She was suffocating from the problems amended by her own actions, which is why she maintained her bad reputation.
In Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible Abigail Williams Changes from a powerful maniac with a lot of power over the town of Salem, to a scared little girl with no power over the town. This is because the town was beginning to realize that there are no witches and Abigail was was starting to notice that people are realizing that and so she took Parris’s money and ran away. In the beginning Abigail had no power, but all throughout the first act she slowly grew in power over the town of Salem, she gains her power by doing witchcraft in the woods and then blaming her witchcraft on other people.

Many characters such as Reverend Parris, work avidly to safeguard their reputations. Additionally, characters such as Abigail Williams and John Proctor display their true personalities when they are forced to encounter momentous events. Overall, several characters hassle over maintaining their reputation and staying true to themselves throughout the crucial events during the Salem Witch trials, and with that their true colors are displayed.
Abigail is willing to accuse any one in her path of witchcraft even if it means taking the lives of those close to her. Abigail Williams’ emotional desire guides her actions even if it conflicts with morality. Abigail williams is driven to do unthinkable things because of her love for John Proctor. Abigail works in the Proctor’s home and while doing so she finds herself attracted to John. Abigail’s obsession with Proctor leads them to have an affair, which they try to keep
