Should Abortion be legal?
The debate whether or not abortion should be a legal option is a topic that continues to divide Americans. The issues whether abortion is right or wrong are always categorized whether the issue is of legal superiority, birth control issues, human rights, religion, and the question of when human life begins. Proponents identify themselves as choosing abortion is the women right, and should not be governmental, or religious authority, they say that if abortion becomes illegal, woman will look for unsafe abortions. The landmark abortion case Roe V. Wade, decided on Jan. 22, 1973 in favor of abortion rights, remains the law of the land. The constitution gives the right of privacy to woman to decide whether or not terminate a pregnancy.
Statistics show that there are approximately 1.21 million abortions in America each year, each year, about 2% of all woman aged 15-44 have an abortion, of the woman obtaining abortions, about 47% of them had at least one previous abortion, the U.S. has the highest abortion rate of any western industrialized nation, and 88.7% of all abortions take place by the twelfth week of pregnancy. After my research, I find that most abortions are made based on irresponsible choices, the only way that an abortion should be perform should be if the mother presents a risk of dying from the pregnancy. The first PRO argument mentions that a fetus is incapable of feeling pain, most of abortions are done at 12 to 13 weeks of pregnancy, at that age, the baby can feel both psychological and physical, organic pain. Surgeon Robert P. N. Shearin states that: As early as eight to ten weeks after conception the unborn child experiences organic pain, at eight weeks the unborn develops feeling on her mouth, at ten weeks he develops feeling on her hands, then her arms, face and legs at eleven weeks, this means the abortion process is painful and agonizing to a fetus. The second PRO argument mentions that woman should have control over their own body, and with that been said, that should not allowed them to kill a human being, to have control of your own body is knowing what is right and what is wrong, what are the choices we want to follow in life, and take the necessary responsible precautions to not get pregnant if that is what a woman wants to prevent. The third PRO argument mentions that a bay should not come to the world unwanted, and because of that, going back to the right of wanting to have control of our own bodies, then we should know what responsible precautions to take so
