I’m Begging You for Mercy Giving birth to a baby is considered as one of the most beautiful miracles that God has permitted human being, more specifically women, to do on this world full of cruelty. The elation and love that come with this procedure are known to be exceptional since one soul is allowing another to see the light. The beauty of giving birth isn’t limited to an instant, but it starts nine months before the moment of birth, and continues dressed as the love between the mother and her child. Despite this magnificence, some people tend to ruin this memorable experience in a woman’s life by going through the procedure of abortion. Abortion is considered to be an ancient procedure that occurred in primitive societies, and it’s noted that the first technique of abortion happened in the Chinese society 4600 years ago. According to Patricia Lohr, a medical director, “every year, millions of women around the world decide to end a pregnancy through abortion” (Lohr par.1). Lohr mentions other statistics about abortion around the world, as she says that almost half of unintended pregnancies end in abortion. In the 20th century this procedure was considered as a violent crime and abortion laws started appearing with the help of various members of the society including doctors and women’s rights activist. In fact, abortion consists of murdering the fetus in the woman’s body, and then vacuuming it to the outside. The fetus isn’t just a group of cells as some doctors might tell, but it’s a breathing human being that is alive inside the body of the mother. Abortion is then another form of corruption that is disguised in a medical robe trying hardly to justify this crime. However, this procedure remains a murder where a life of an innocent human being is being taken away in the most horrible way. This description of abortion was also argued by Ronald Reagan when he stated in his article entitled “Abortion” that “Simple morality dictates that unless and until someone can prove the unborn human is not alive, we must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it is (alive).
