Abraham Lincoln was a very successful president because he ended slavery in the southern rebellious states and wanted african american men to not have the same right as a normal american man and wanted women to be able to vote. Lincoln ended slavery slavery in the confederate states.Abe as a child always wanted everyone to be equal. He believed everyone should be free and not everyone believed that he would be a great president, but he was the greatest president we have had.President abraham lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation January 1, 1863. It had been 3 years of the war between the south and the north. Fighting about slavery. Lincoln thought that all men were created equal but thought that African Americans shouldn't have social and political rights. Many people accused Lincoln of giving them every right as a normal man.He did not want them to be able to vote or to be able to be in a jury but he believed that they should have the right to improve their way in the society. They were kind of equal to white men, they just wouldn't have slavery and would decide the way they want to live. On April 11,1865 the last speech he made was about limited black suffrage. He was saying that African American men who fight in the war should be able to vote. Abe wanted to free the slaves and move them to Africa or central America, so they could avoid conflict. When lincoln said that they were to be separated African American leaders and abolitionists said that they were just like any other average man and that it's not fair that would have to be moved.
