Abraham Lincoln was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Abraham Lincoln was an important man who help abolish slavery, and was always known for being honest. Abraham Lincoln's early life influenced the man he became through the opportunities he was provided and the choices that he made. Abraham Lincoln's childhood impacted the person he became by his parents always educating him, and teaching him honest. Abraham Lincoln's father, Thomas Lincoln a carpenter and farmer, “was an honest, conscientious man who was trusted by his neighbors,” (Platt --). Sarah, Abrahams step mom was the one who taught him to read, write, and do simple math.
