Abraham Lincoln is one of the most known people in early american history, he has been known for being the president of the USA during the civil war. Abe has always been against slavery. During he was the president he was against slavery and became an abolitionist during his terms. Which started the civil war.
Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 and died in 1865. He was born in Kentucky with his mother Nancy and father Thomas. Abraham had an older sister called Sara and was two years older. When he was around 23 years old he was out of work and started in the New Salem Military. He was tall and athletic and he also was the captain of an unit in the Black Hawk War in 1832.
Born in Kentucky, February 12, 1809. Lincoln made an unsuccessful run for the Illinois legislature in 1832. He ran again in 1834, 1836, and 1840 and won every time. He was a member of the wig party until 1836 when he became a Republican. He also becomes a lawyer in 1836.
The Missouri Compromise, Sectionalism, the steady rise in the Abolitionist Movement, and the election of Abraham Lincoln all contributed to the conflict which began the Civil War. The continuous disagreements regarding slavery between the North and South divided the Union early on. Differences in culture, education and social practices cultivated the growing divide between regions. Most northern states had completely abolished slavery by the beginning of the nineteenth century, causing the conflict of interest politically between the North and South. With the western territories being settled at a rapid pace, a fierce political competition heated between the North and South.
Abraham Also tried to stop slavery but when that happened he was assassinated. He was assassinated in a theater where he was trying to watch a play. 10. Kansas-Nebraska Act – The Kansas-Nebraska Act split the Nebraska territory into two territories comprising of Nebraska and Kansas.
