Abraham Lincoln was the 16th american president in 1861-1865 and one of the biggest presidents of all time. He was a republican. He was an historical person and well known. He fought to end the slavery in the south and he even started a Civil War in 1861 and it was The North against The South. After his fight to free the slaves he was then a part of the freedom fighters.
Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 and died in 1865. He was born in Kentucky with his mother Nancy and father Thomas. Abraham had an older sister called Sara and was two years older. When he was around 23 years old he was out of work and started in the New Salem Military. He was tall and athletic and he also was the captain of an unit in the Black Hawk War in 1832.
Before Lincoln was elected as the new president he was an lawyer. Since he was an lawyer he was very good at promoting his thoughts and they say that he had rhetorical abilities and had some good speeches. With his speeches he lead the country through the war.The Civil War was that The Southern still had slavery and The Northern wanted to get rid of it but The Southern didn`t want to give it up and this started the Civil War.
