n the novel animal farm by george orwell we notice a frequent theme throughout the course of the story that of corruption absolute power and leadership . Orwell explores the idea of power leading to corruption and violence as many of the characters are eventually corrupted by the power they have particularly the tyrant mr jones and his mistreatment of the animals in addition the power of the pigs which they used to manipulate their position of leadership to exploit their fellow animals Mr jones is the first manifestation of the power abuse in the novel .as an owner of the manor farm he uses his men and whips to oppress the animals and keep them under control . this latter forces the animals to work for very long hours without any food takes …show more content…

this ruler or rather these rulers were snowball and napoleon since they were considered to be the cleverest of them all . A leader however does not start wanting to do wrong they start with best intentions and end up with worst outcomes .but power is a tricky ting showcased in animal farm as utopian ideals but with failed practices Power can change people into the thing or character that said they never would be. Absolute power changes people and creates something new and often times a monsterthis was the case of napoleon . Napoleon and snowball were complete different leaders no one can deny that they all strated from the same starting point but each one of them chose his own path . one is selfless and the other is selfish. Snowball s demise was that Great leaders are those who made sacrifices to get them to where they are, put themselves in the shoes of their people, and see themselves as equals to their people. Squealer uses language that intimidates the animals, , language that distorts the truth, and language that appeals to the emotions of the others to manipulate the gullible animals of Animal Farm. . Snowball gets expelled and Squealer goes around the farm to explain to the animals that Napoleon is making a great sacrifice in taking the leadership responsibilities. “Surely, comrades, you do not want Jones back?” If Jones comes back to the farm, the animals would be treated badly again. They are scared of that, and their fear intimidates them to agree and cooperate with the pigs. The pigs brainwash the animals into believing what is not true and manipulate the other animals on the farm
