In the article “With No Boys to Ogle, We Had Time to Learn” by Christine Flowers that was published in Newsweek on October 24, 2005, Flowers discusses the benefits of single-gender schools. Flowers attended an all girls school during her secondary education and continued her single-sex education in college. Flowers claims that this was extremely beneficial for her, and is also beneficial for most educational institutions. Flowers first begins by talking about her own decision to extend her single-sex education into her college years.
After breaking her class into small groups Tannen explains, “I could see plainly from my observation of the groups at work that women who never opened their mouths in class were talking away in the small groups” (359). Tannen’s results prove the idea that the genders participate in different ways. More specifically she uses all three rhetoric strategies in this one quote to explain to the audience that how comfortable someone feels will change how often, or even when they choose to participate. Starting with her ethos, she uses her professional background, not only as a teacher but also as a writer about gender in the classroom, to experiment in her classroom. This leads to logos, in this quote, she explains the outcomes of her experiment, data that has a direct correlation to scientific procedure, she explains in her essay that she broke the class up six times in different ways and the whole women’s group produced participation.
Patrick Holt English 802 Joshua Lukin Temple University 1/25/16 The debate about how to help young boys perform better in school is anything but simple. There are many different views and opinions on the matter. Some believe that it is very feminine environment that boys are introduced to in the classroom and making the classroom more appealing to boys is the best solution. This view is championed by the article How Boys Learn, written by Michael Gurian and Kathy Stevens.
The overall percentage of the boys in the academic classes are decreasing as the female success rates are increasing. Teachers and others in higher positions are slowly forgetting about the existence of boys
The teacher wants to nurture positive gender identities. Activities should encourage equality of participation by both genders. The classroom should be an anti-bias environment. By doing so, the teacher is helping children of all races and culture background form heathy identity and attitudes. Also, pointing out the similarities instead of the differences can encourage respect among everyone in the classroom.
In addition to students spending more time in class they found out that the test scores and students on the honor roll
Gender role is roughly defined as the type of behaviors and attitudes that are desirable for people based on their sex or perceived sexuality. In fact, socially, women are expected to take a range of roles. They are, for example, expected to be responsible for the cleanliness of the house, the family’s nutrition and more. In “Girls”, we can encounter what happens to be a list of things that a girl should do or should avoid doing, and a list of behavior that she should exhibit or avoid. In this text, Jamaica Kincaid elaborates on some of the expectations of society towards women like doing the laundry: “Wash the white clothes …”; cooking: “cook pumpkin fritters…”, cleaning the house: “This is how you sweep a corner…” and more.
It allows them to be busier and engaged to the learning strategies that they are learning. It helps the teachers and students to push students to get their work done on time to get their credits in a faster way with good grades which will bring a smile on their faces and make them feel proud of themselves. Also, you get a fantastic experience that no one will ever regret when they graduate. Also, the teachers have to do less marking than regular high school years, for instance, if the class is significant, the teacher cannot teach everyone at once. So, this gives an opportunity to everyone who takes school year-round everyone will be able to maintain at the same pace when the teacher is teaching the whole class.
Without the boys in a coed classroom, the girls are more likely to be leaders and reach academic success, but with them, the average of the scores went down by 37%! Why do you want to keep the co-ed classrooms if the single-sex does better academically? Additionally, different genders tend to learn in different environments. Aside from the other sex being a distraction, a drawback about a co-ed setting is that students end up being intimidated by the other sex

In order to address the issue of sexism within the academic environment, we need to take a firm stance in combating gender discrimination and the attitudes that women are unlikely to secure tenure status and raise a family as a faculty within higher education. Sexism permeates within the higher education institutions on various. Though sexism manifests itself in the form of overt/covert discrimination, there are many instances that involve a more subtle entrenched inequity amongst women. Dr. Hill’s inappropriate comment towards women manifests itself as a microaggression towards the three female advisees as incapable of succeeding and securing a job as a woman. Leadership Approach
This will educate the students about diversity and they will learn to appreciate others and their surroundings. Students will not only learn about diversity but they will also accept themselves. Some of the positive outcomes that a diverse classroom produces are the following: students develop a positive self-image, will obtain an equal education for the students, allowing students to have many ways of thinking and different perspectives, defeats stereotypes and prejudice behavior, and last but not least it will educate students to critique society in the interest of social
Students are also capable of being more involved in the class and can have more detailed strategies on how to defend themselves that they can practice over and over throughout the

Single-Gender Schools Should not be Tolerated in this Day and Age. Single gender schools affects are gender stereotyping, inability to work with the opposite gender, and inhabits opportunities for the different genders to learn from each other (Elliot, 2016). Although single-gender schools have benefits it might not be from differing the genders (Ancheta , 2018). Research also shows no evidence that single gender schools boost in achievement. Co-ed schools allow for kids interact with the other gender and learn from them.
