General Perceptions or Effects to the Community. Members are small business owners and thus are regarded to keep a personal relationship with the community. Ace Hardware stores vary in sizes depending on neighborhood characteristics. However, Ace Hardware also claims that there are retailer-members who have become large and impersonal.
Motivation and Job Satisfaction Indicators at Ace Hardware
To understand what energizes human behavior at Ace Hardware, the level of motivation is thus discussed separately for the retailer-members and their employees.
Motivations of Retailer-Members. The advantages and disadvantages of a cooperative society identify the motivational factors why people enter into this organizational setup. Aside from the benefits and limitations cited earlier, cooperative members join forces in an undertaking since cooperatives are easy to form (Reddy 2011). To set up a cooperative, ten adults can group together quite easily as the registration is uncomplicated. One of the limitations is that cooperatives rely only on the financial resources of its members, and thus may be limited. Businesses that require large capitals may not be sustained by cooperatives (Reddy 2011). Another disadvantage may result from the management of the members only. Managerial and special skills may be lacking which may cause inefficient supervision. Furthermore, business affairs are openly tackled during meetings and thus would lack secrecy.
