I came to America with my mother, brother and sister to achieve the American dream. When I first came here I did not fully understand the extent of challenges and obstacles that my family and I had to face to make our dreams reality. My family has been struggling financially since the first year I came to America, which became my motivation to pursue a higher education. On my last year of high school, financial crisis threatened my family so much that I was ready to drop out of high school to help my single mother cope with the burden of financing the whole family on her own. As I walked out of her office, I became more determined to succeed not only to achieve my dream but also to prove that anything can be accomplished with a hard work. After all, achieving success through hard work and determination is the American dream. When I went home my mom encouraged me by saying, “although this may discourage others, this should given you a driving force to prove that neither language barrier nor discouraging words from others will stop you from following your dreams and aspirations. Do not allow any one to determine your destiny.” My freshmen year my grade was lower than I expected going in to college due to unfortunate situation at home, but I have seen improvements recently and I plan to stay on track by staying focused no matter the obstacle I face. Every obstacle I faced so far was different mentally and physically, and I know for fact that there is more to come, but I am grateful for them because I used it as a self- motivation. I don't only want to achieve my goal, but become the best at what I do. In conclusion, I had long term dream of becoming a doctor. Becoming a doctor is my passion, being able to help other people is what I desire,helping them with their health.I have had so much obstacles, people discouraging me, even financial issues.However, It seems impossible to reach my goals I had to be strong not just only for myself but mostly for my mother who struggling to make my dream come
