What type of impact do zoos have on their animals? In these three articles the authors describe the ways that zoos positively impact their animals. In article one, “The Stripes Will Survive,” by Jaqueline Adams, she describes how the zoo changed the tigers lives and how it impacted them to live a better life. First, in paragraph four, Adams sates, “In 1981 the American Zoo and Aquarium association started the Species Survival Plan to make sure that threatened and endangered animal species don’t disappear.” And in paragraph four, “They keep a computerized family tree of zoo tigers that helps match males and females for breeding.” Next, Adams states in paragraph 7, “In the wild tiger mothers teach their cubs to hunt, but Gaia teaches them chasing …show more content…

As Powers states in paragraph 1, “Oakland Zoo’s animal care, conservation, and research has the privilege and challenge of providing our animal residents with an enriching, well-balanced life and advocating for the conservation of their wild counterparts.” Also, in article 2 they also gave the gorillas a natural space too, as stated in paragraph 5, “It was a large open-air enclosure designed to resemble the rainforest of Willies Native Central Africa.” As stated in paragraph 2, “The zoos flack of blue and gold macaws recently got a healthy dose of extra enrichment.” And, as stated in paragraph 2, “It will not only give our blue and gold macaws something new and fun to play with, but it will also help keep their little feet healthy.” Lastly as state din paragraph 3, “The team recycled some cargo netting and stretched it out between some perching to support brand new bird baths. Just like the native songbirds that like to bathe in the little puddles in your yard, Macaws and other Parrots love to keep themselves clean too.” Also, my clues from the text are, “The team recycled some cargo netting and stretched it out between some perching to support brand new bird baths.” My knowledge from the text is that they recycled items to make bird baths.
