I would like to be a leader in the field of psychology. My interest in psychology has been generated by my own personal experiences. I believe I can be of great assistance to the community. Having suffered from attention deficiency hyperactivity disorder, I believe I can inspire other students who suffer from similar or related disabilities to achieve their objectives and goals in life irrespective of their deficiencies. Furthering my education in psychology also provides me with a platform to acquire additional knowledge on problems affecting people.
I suffered from childhood leukaemia and whose long term effects affected me significantly. I was diagnosed with attention deficiency hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a mental disorder and which is characterized by attention associated issues, excessive activity and it also involves challenges when it comes to controlling behaviour. Children with ADHD have anger related issues and also have issues relating to other people or social life. In most cases, the symptoms of ADHD are observable prior to one reaching the age of 12.
Management of ADHD involves both counselling and medication. The effects of ADHD leads to poor performance in one’s education (Gordon, 2010). Attention deficiency hyperactivity …show more content…

I believe my disability qualifies my application for this program. The structures within Stephen Benson Disability Program offers me a suitable and conducive environment to study and realize my goals.
