History from the Inside was my first in-depth look at history and how it shaped the modern world. So naturally, I did not answer many of the questions on the Admission Test correctly. One of the questions that I was not sure about at all was “What do you think the terms “westernization” and “globalization” mean, when did the processes they name begin, and who is, or was being “westernized” or “globalized”?” Over the past few terms, I have been able to learn much more about these topics.

The people in East India Company were unhappy with the Europeans control over them and their living arrangements. People involved with the East India Company were often unkempt and poorly accounted for. The Europeans only supplied the members of the East India Company with new machinery and a uniform. Also, many people in India including the Nawab of Bengal, Siraj-Ud-Daulah saw that the Europeans were just taking advantage of the Indians and their resources like cotton, silk piece goods, indigo, and saltpeter with spices. Also, Siraj-Ud-Daulah did not like the fact that the Europeans were trying to mess with Indian politics and change it. Additionally, The East India Company began enslaving people there to sell and make more of a profit. The slaves would have to leave all they’ve ever known and change themselves to work for people who were going to treat them badly. These people did not have a say in this either because even though there were several attempts from the Indians to overthrow the British East India Company, they eventually seized Bengal and steadily captured the entire Indian subcontinent.
