Growing up as an only child, in a independent school, and in Roslindale, has not only been a privilege, but has also allowed me to see a wide range of different people. When I was born, my father and mother lived in Roxbury, but when I was eighteen months old my parents decided to move to Roslindale because the location was better and there was more space for all of us. Roslindale has been a very welcoming and pleasant neighborhood for which I am forever grateful. When we moved to Roslindale the population was mostly Greek but since then it has become more diverse. I enjoy living in an environment with people of different backgrounds. Growing up in a small family, with most extended family living abroad and in places that are not as accessible as we would like, can be challenging, because sometimes it can get a little bit uneventful. The Park School has been a great fit for me because it is a warm and inclusive community which has made me feel safe and given me the opportunity to excel. The Park School has been a place that has allowed me the opportunity to navigate and find my true passions of sports, singing, and making a difference. For example, each of my teachers has seen my potential and guided me towards my goals. I didn't know that I had a passion for poetry until my english teacher opened my eyes, pointing out the strengths in the poem that I had written. When I first chosen to be part of the varsity basketball team in the seventh grade, the practices were quite challenging. But my coaches saw that I had the potential to become a better player and this year I feel more confident. Ten years at Park has given me the confidence and tools necessary for this new transition; entering high
