No parents should ever have to bury their children. For the Lee family they not only lost a child but still live with the horror of not knowing who took their daughter’s life. On January 13, 1999, Baltimore, Maryland was racked with drama and tension when Woodlawn High School senior Hae Min Lee disappeared after school. Her mutilated body was discovered behind a log in Leakin Park on February 9, 1999 by a mysterious man know as Mr. S. Reports pin the cause of death on strangulation. After a long and drawn out trial, Hae Min Lee’s ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was convicted of the crime and sentenced to life in prison. They both went to the same high school and the only interaction between the two involved smoking marijuana (weed). Jay Wilds is involved in the case because he claimed Adnan called him and asked him to help bury the body (Inconsistencies). Jay stated that he received a phone call from the phone booth in the Best Buy parking lot. After a lengthy amount of research, the conclusion was made that there was never a phone booth in the area. The timeline and location for the actual murder was questioned and the lies began to build up for Jay Wilds. When the final bell rings at 2:15 over 1400 students race to their cars or to the buses. You cannot just go to your car and leave you have to wait ten to fifteen minutes until all of the buses are gone to pull out of the parking lot. On the way to the Best Buy there are major intersections with lots of traffic at that time of day. How will he be able to strangle Hae a strong tall athletic girl, remove her from the car, carry her to the truck, and put her in there during broad day light at 2:30 in the afternoon. Then make his way to the Best Buy phone booth to call Jay to ask for assistance, but this phone booth never actually existed.
