Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 to his mother Klara Polzl and his father Alois Hitler in Austria-Hungary he was the 4th out of 6 children Following the death of his younger brother, Hitler became interested in German nationalism, and began rejecting the authority of Austria-Hungary. This sense of nationalism would become the motivating force of Hitler's life.
Hitler left school at age sixteen with dreams of becoming an artist, he was a decent painter that could have improved with schooling so he left home for Vienna to get into one of the most prestigious colleges for arts around. However, he was rejected from Viennese Academy of Fine Arts and that made him very bitter and as he stated years after “ it was five years of misery and woe” this time was another key point in shaping his views of a Greater Germany and his strong hatred for the Jews. During the next few years, Hitler and Co reorganized their party and was soon able to gain a majority in German parliament legally in 1932. That same year, President Paul von Hindenburg defeated Hitler in a presidential bid, but in January 1933 he appointed Hitler as chancellor, hoping that the powerful leader could unite Germany for the good. However, as many of us know that didn’t go as planned, once Hitler became chancellor the Reichstag building burned to the ground and Hitler used this to gain momentum and call for general elections.
