The Emancipation Proclamation, subsequently, freed all slaves living in areas controlled by the Southerners. In addition, when Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, he caused all the freed slaves to live in poverty. Moreover, the Southerners were the kinds of people who adored slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation should’ve freed them the enslaved people, but it made slaves’ lives worse than they already were. The southerners were the people who owned slaves, and when slavery was abolished, they greatly diverged.
The status, demographics, community institutions, difficulties, and advantages of free blacks varied by region in the United States during the antebellum period. The Jacksonian Era saw many improvements in life for white men, as the political process opened up and reform flourished in a variety of areas. The “Age of Democracy,” however, failed to spread equality to all races. Free blacks faced many difficulties in the North, as increased racism led to “black laws” restricting movement to certain states, disfranchisement in many Northern areas, as well as pervasive segregation in areas of transportation, education, and housing. Although life held challenges, strong, vibrant, black communities developed in the North.
The Great Migration was a movement in which African-Americans moved to the northern United States. The movement takes place after slavery was ended. Both texts tell about how the Harlem Renaissance effects the lives of people in that time period and now.

To begin with, when Africans Americans came to America they were slaves they did long hours of hard labor like harvesting fields without being payed and was obligated to live in run down houses outside a real home. Also, many were captured from homes to be turned into slaves some did not even eat they made them starve and worked all day. Also slaves did not have no freedom they had to listen to the whites and if they did not listen to the whites the whites will beat them. Also, slaves did not have no rights to be able to do what they wanted to do.
Life was worse for African Americans after the Civil War for numerous reasons. To start off with many of the reasons is the violence after the Civil War, the violence in the South was very bad because of the KKK was in the South because the KKK did lynchings on the blacks to keep the blacks from voting and it scared many African Americans which it did work, many blacks did not vote in the South and many whites threatened blacks if they voted that they would be killed. Racism was very well noticed in the South Many blacks were being mistreated and harassed just because of their color. Moreover the blacks sharecropping many of the blacks was very hard and this was the only way for them to do anything so they used crops instead of money and

African Americans migrated north because the South treated them like slaves, much worse than the north. In the north, they could work in steel mills, shipyard, plants, railroads, auto facilities and mines instead of the south cotton fields and kitchens. They also had many family and friends telling how wonderful it was and that they needed to move. After the Mexican revolted again Dictator Porfino Diaz in 1910, it initiated a ten year war so may Mexicans migrated north.
