Introduction
Sustainable development is made up of three different groups, the environment, the economy, and the social community. I will be focusing on two of them, the economy and the environment, with a focus around energy. Energy comes in several different forms, heat, light, sound, and most importantly to our lives, electricity. Humans depend on electricity for most everyday things, such as to keep us warm at night, to power our entertainment, and it gives us light to work, study or play when it is dark. There are many sources of energy; the most commonly used ones are called fossil fuels. They are made up of coal, oil, and natural gas. They are often called nonrenewable, meaning that when they are depleted, there will be no more in our …show more content…

Most of the disadvantages are cosmetic in nature, such as visual and noise pollution, however the main disadvantage is that the wind does not blow consistently, making it unreliable and in many cases inefficient. This is a disadvantage facing most renewable energy sources, their inefficiency (Wind Power).
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: ENERGY 4
Nuclear fusion looks like a tantalising energy source. It is what powers the sun and all the stars. It holds untold potential for future energy sources. It is created when two atoms of the same light element, usually hydrogen, which powers our sun, combine into helium, creating energy in the process. In the past, we have managed to create an uncontrollable reaction, in the form of a hydrogen bomb, where all the energy is released in one moment. A variation of different isotopes of hydrogen have been tested and Deuterium and Tritium have proved to be the most effective. The hope is that in the future the same amount of energy that was the hydrogen bomb can be released gradually and safely. However, this has proven almost impossible due to the fact that the hydrogen atoms have the same charge and therefore, repel each other. The way to get around this is to increase the temperature until the atoms move
