As a typical high school student, you don’t really think that being American has anything to do with you. When people thing of their responsibilities to America they think of politicians and possibly the Presidential race. What people don’t know is that there is a lot more they can do for this country than they can even believe. Every citizen has a role to play in the machine that is America. America is a country that is built by the people for the people . Without the people’s cooperation and participation in our democracy it cannot not work. I myself am privileged to be a part of a country that is this great. I am still young, too young to have very many rights of my own, but still there are responsibilities that I have as a soon to be citizen of the United states

Many of these require you to be active in the community and the also in the school community. It is important to learn this ea rly in life. So you can practice it in your Government later on. Being active in your community is a keystone in aa democracy. If you sit there and do nothing then nothing will change. And lately in American people have become lazy. I don’t know if TV, video games, or fast food causes this but this is happening at a rapid rate. Americans becoming too lazy to do their simple every day task and become unimportant to a society. It is just a bunch of blank slates . People stopped caring about each other and each other’s opinions. In a democracy every voice matters and no one should go unheard. That one unheard voice can change a decision of an entire country. People like protestors or activist use their rights to speak out and make a difference. These people cause major changes as a whole l country and sometimes can make our lives a lot better because they are speaking
