The Dying Out of The Texas German Dialect May Not Be The End for German Texans Introduction When German Texans read a headline, “Unique dialect, Texas German, taking last gasp,” alarms clang through their heads (Winkie, 2015). More than half of the 6,900 languages alive today are at risk of dying out by the end of the 21st century (Britannica). Is Texas German one of them? If so, how close is it to dying out? How do German Texans think and feel about the decline of their dialect?
Sariah Durrant Worldwide Communication (A Discussion of Adopting a Global Language) The diversity in our world is what makes it so beautiful and utterly unique. Because of the many cultures and the colorful histories they have, many interesting and amazing people exist today. Technology has been connecting many people who are so isolated from each other that they never would have been in contact if not for that.
The question that arises is how they know they are on the right track with they way of thinking with this so-called lifestyle or idea because I understand many Jamaicans are not confused. I view Jamaicans to be much like the Planet Uranus, No one knows its trueness, and it functions on a different beat. Much like people view Jamaicans as confused about a lot of things particularly about their own language that they are not able to differentiate between speaking English and speaking Jamaican. This is simply one of the challenges they face in getting persons to accept the fact that the Jamaican language is a real language and not simply a "bad" or "broken" form of English. It has its own grammar, vocabulary, style and everything else that makes
CHAPTER 2 French language French naturellement The French language is regulated by the Académie Française to prevent any non-French words from creeping into the True French Language. If in doubt a New French Word will be created, for example a Walkman (a trade name) became a Balladeur. Unfortunately for the Académie, many words are in common use, that are not of French origin: weekend; sandwich; parking; stop (stopper = to stop!) ; star; TOP-50 and OK, Jeep, jerrican, and nearly all names of sports except pétanque or boules.
English Written Task- Part 1 RATIONAL Our world is constantly evolving which leads to a change in our linguistics and knowledge of languages. It is and advantage for an individual to be bilingual in today’s world and to acknowledge others culture in order to be successful in businesses.
Bilinguality does not only benefits young children and adolescents, but also older adults. It keeps the cognitive mechanism sharp and recruit the older brain networks that became damaged during aging. Their brains become improves with that so does the memory and executive control. With aging other medical conditions can come along, but being bilingual can protect and delay from that.
Being bilingual has got many advantages. It has been debated that bilingualism has multiple advantages such as cognitive, cultural, academic benefits as well. Cognitive benefit reveals that being bilingual help to facilitate human brain. People who are bilingual have two language systems which are working simultaneously. These systems don’t create hindrance in individual’s performance and ensure brain’s functioning of both cognitive aspects (Bialystok, 1999).
The globalization of the English language is not something that came about coincidentally, or because of some inherent superiority in the structure of the English language. English came about as a dominating language because of the rise of military, economic, and political power of the Western nations that used it as its mother tongue. While the prospect of a global language has many positive attributes in terms of global communication, the very real possibility of English being the dominant language of the world is not without its fair share of issues. As discussed in the text, some populations are deeply concerned with the prospect of English globalization. Though English is the main target because of the very real possibility of it becoming a global language, the dangers of the globalization of any language includes the concern that will give an unfair advantage to native language speakers, and the possibility of the loss of indigenous identity for those whose first language is not English.
All English language learners need to learn the language of instruction in English language schools at the same time as they are working towards meeting the curriculum expectations. Young children learn the system of a new language more effectively than older learners. They may acquire a local accent quickly, whereas their older siblings may always have an accent influenced by the system of their home language. But young children may well take five or more years to catch up to their age peers in vocabulary acquisition and the accurate use of grammar in both spoken and written English.
There are different causes for this, One could be the easiness they can learn it, another is that lots of the most important countries in the world speak this language, television or music also counts in this subject because the most viewed movies and music videos are in English and aren’t as good when you translate it to another language. Companies have lost of translators but most of them are ruled by English speaking people, this is why people in Russia, china and big industries countries need English to have big deals. The countries that don’t know English we can say that are the one that are struggling, this is why English has become so important to humanity. in this essay I’m going to explore why English is the most common language chosen
Bilingual is someone who can be able to speak, using, expressed and understand in two languages. In react year bilingual system becomes the most controversial topics around the world and in the U.A.E also. In addition, there are a lot of conflicting views on this issue. However; I believe that the bilingual system should be essential to the world. And, in my essay I will discuss five reasons that support my statement and theses reason are: 1.
The Benefit of a Foreign Language “One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way,” says Frank Smith. From the American Community survey, 21% of children age 5 to 17 spoke another language besides English within the United States. Learning a second is important to society in my eyes because of the perseverance and sacrifice for those who are learning a foreign language, especially those who are learning English. The inspiration for this piece came from family and close people in my life who had somewhat struggled to learn another language but have prevailed and became more successful since then.
Just a few centuries ago English was spoken by just five to seven million people on one, relatively small island, and the language consisted of dialects spoken by monolinguals. Today there are more non-native than native users of English, and English has become the linguistic key used for opening borders: it is a global medium with local identities and messages. English has become a world language, spoken by at least 750 million of the whole population today. It is more widely spoken and written than any other language, even Latin, has ever been. It can indeed, be said to be the first truly global language.
CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION A. Background of the Problem Language has a central role in the development of intellectual, social, and emotional learners. It supports the success in learning all fields of the study. Learning the language is expected to help learners to know them, their culture, and other cultures. In addition, learning language also helps learners are able to express ideas and feelings, participate in society, and use an analytical and imaginative ability that was in theirs.
In my point of view, English is an appropriate language as an international language and English is a part of the international life because of 3 main reasons which are political history, economics and also the simplicity of this language. First, one of the main reasons why English is the international language in the world today is the fact that Britain was the global superpower in the nineteenth century and America is the global superpower in the twentieth and twenty-first. These two English-speaking countries were the most important countries in terms of the military and trade. By overcoming and colonizing so much of the world, their customs, culture and way of life became common in those parts of the world. This is why so many colonies that were British before now have English as the national language, with many of their people speaking English as a first language.
