Introduction:

In this essay I will discuss Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. I will explain it by discussing the five stage model steps which are:
1. Psychological
2. Safety
3. Social
4. Esteem
5. Self-Actualisation
Also in this essay I will discuss Herzberg’s theory Two Factor Theory which explains that there are two sets of factors that influence motivation in the workplace by either enhancing employee satisfaction or hindering it.
The two factors are:
1. Hygiene Factors
2. Motivational Factors
Finally in this essay I will explain and compare the advantages and disadvantages that is associated with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and Herzberg’s theory Two Factor Theory.

Maslow said that if these needs were not fulfilled then people would concentrate and devote their lives and needs to fulfil them and no social interactions or esteem felt by people would compensate.

Safety needs:
Safety needs are what people consider to be which they are safe from. People who look to live in a safe area, have a secure job and having a decent amount of money so they would not be at risk of being poor. As safety needs are above psychological needs in the hierarchy. Maslow claimed that people who were hungry would put themselves at risk to get food. This could be proven in today’s world were in poverty stricken and drought regions across the world people will attempt to plant crops in search of food. This proves that food is a more valuable need than their own safety.

Social Needs:

1. Access: which is at the base of the hierarchy which means people need to have access to the internet.
2. Resilience: when they have access to the internet people need the internet to be resilient which means its available reliability and predictability.
3. Connectivity: people need to engage with others in a increasing interconnected substantive way.
