For HCA, to avoid future disparities offering lower prices to existing patients and new patients, who could not afford the services, is a good initiative to not lose patients and therefore not lose profit. Another way to help with the disparities is to set up clinic services to patients who are not able to afford medical assistance at the same time this clinic can provide education to patients on how to better their health and lifestyles. If an organization treats and helps guide a patient he/she will continue to come back to get treated or educated. With this, it will help the organization target disparities, help the community while still making a profit because it retained their
The Affordable Care Act has shifted focus on health and wellness of patient populations urging hospitals to do a community needs assessment and come up with a strategy to address these needs. Hospitals most often partner with community and professional organizations to address the health need (Stempniak, 2014). This is an example of how the four spheres are all interrelated. Nurses are at the heart of this movement, providing the necessary skills, experience and expertise to address the needs of the population being served (Shamian,
The Affordable Care Act “provides Americans with better health security putting in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will; expand coverage, hold insurance companies accountable, lower health care costs, guarantee more choice, and enhance the quality of care for all Americans” states in the Affordable Care Act article. The base of the Affordable Care Act is to help the middle class or financially unstable people get cost effective insurance. This is a major benefit for millions of people especially that don’t have a stable job, young adults and many with families to support, and people who retire and can’t afford paying so much money for medical problems. So with that being said, it will be a long-term benefit for millions to

The Nurse Practice Act is laws that define responsibilities of the nurse and the scope of practice within their range. The range of activities and services as well as the qualifications for practice. The act describes what constitutes unprofessional conduct of misconduct and investigation and the disciplinary procedures for complaints filed against a nurse. It is causing a shortage in primary care physicians. Patients are waiting longer times to be seen by a doctor. We are seeing an increase patient visits in the emergency room. Many people lost their employment-based health insurance due to owners of a small business choosing to pay for a penalty since it is more cost-effective to them. Obamacare also mandated individuals to get health insurance or pay penalty.
I found out about the Affordable Care Act while I was volunteering at Planned Parenthood. I was so excited because the new law meant I would be able to have health insurance again. It was very easy to enroll online, and I was able to find a perfect plan that fits my needs and my budget, and I can use it at Planned Parenthood”("Planned Parenthood"). She was able to find a source of insurance that was affordable and covered her healthcare needs. Statistics show that “83% of women and men who use Planned Parenthood are under the age of 20, 79% whose incomes are at or below 150% of the federal poverty level, and 75% of people receive treatment for unintended pregnancies”("Planned Parenthood").
The expansion of Medicaid through the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has initiated many states to try innovative ideas to improve their Medicaid programs. Many states, like Minnesota, had started the reform process prior to the passage of the ACA with the purpose of improving the quality of care for Medicaid beneficiaries and to utilize a more cost-effective system to provide Medicaid benefits. One of the innovative ideas that states like Minnesota is implementing is the use of accountable care organizations (ACOs). This paper will explore ACOs by studying the reforms within the Minnesota Medicaid program. Background Medicaid was originally established by the government to provide medical services and payment for individuals
According to CNBC, more than half a million people with pre-existing conditions were denied coverage by the four most prominent health insurance companies from 2007 to 2009. As stated by the ASPE U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, about 1 in 2 Americans have pre-existing conditions, and many of them could have been denied health insurance if it were not for Obamacare. Thus, from a long-term aspect, Obamacare will make a huge impact not only by protecting, but also by drastically reducing the costs of health insurance for tens of millions of Americans with pre-existing

The Affordable Health Care Act, also known as “Obamacare”, is basically just Obama trying to make sure that the whole nation has insurance and if they do not have it by January 1, 2014, they will be penalized with a fine. To make insurance more affordable, many Americans are able to qualify for a subsidy that lowers the cost depending on age and income. Also, “Obamacare” made it impossible for insurers’ to discriminate, or charge higher rates, for anyone who has pre-existing conditions or for a certain gender. Medicare will also be easier to obtain due to requirement of insurance. This law was passed in the U.S. on March 23, 2010 by Congress and President Barack Obama.
The affordable healthcare act also known as Obama care is a very complicated act that an average person would have difficulties understanding. Like any other law, some individuals will benefit from it more than others. It will also have many issues and problems that will take a while to fix. In some cases, the issues may not be fixable at all. There have been many modifications to the act, and the government will still make many more changes.
Before the Affordable Care Act was put into work, over 45 million Americans were uninsured. The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, was then made to help those who were uninsured. It allowed people with financial struggles with the same opportunity as everyone else to have a healthcare plan. Even though the law was passed in 2010, it took a full year of back and forth to get it passed in the Senate. Obamacare may help you get coverage, but charge you an annual fee if you don’t have one.
The affordable care act is committed to adapting to the changes in healthcare and providing nurses with the upmost education to help nurses adapt to the changes and overcome them effectively. The affordable care act is some ways has allowed nurses to immerse in new learning opportunities and play important roles in leading change in the health care delivery system. In my opinion this only makes since due to the fact that nurses are at the forefront providing care to these patients and will be greatly impacted by the healthcare reform act. With this being said it will be important that nurses are aware of the different interventions that will aid in patients meeting their necessary outcomes and seeking cheaper costs of healthcare.
