During the class interviews I chose to profile Ailey Ore. Ailey is a criminal justice student at the University of Texas at Arlington. Ailey is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. Ailey’s economic status is middle class. Ailey has eleven siblings. Ailey’s parents were married. When Ailey was seven years old her father died of a heart attack. During the interview Ailey mentioned her father was a professor at a university and her mother was a student in her father’s class. Ailey described her father as highly intelligent and successful. She implied that she admired her father’s qualities and respected him (A. Ore, personal communication, April 16, 2015). Ailey states that she is cautious about her use of social media (A. Ore, personal communication, April 16, 2015). She is cautious because she fears that her stepfather will find her family and track them down on social media such as Facebook. (A. Ore, personal communication, April 16, 2015). Ailey states that in the past she has not had a close relationship with her mother. She revealed that when her father had died he left her and her siblings a trust fund for college but her mother had misused Ailey’s money on her house. Ailey states that she has recently tried to build a relationship with her mother because she values family due to the fact that she lost her father (A. Ore, personal communication, April 16, 2015). Ailey states that she was actively involved in high school and participated in the National Honor Society and various other student organizations. When questioned about committing crimes in her past Ailey stated that she had not committed any crimes. Social Bond Theory is a microtheory because it focuses on the individual (Williams & McShane, 2014). Attachment is the most important of the four social bonds. Attachment is the closeness that someone has with other people such as the relationship with parents. Commitment is when a person commits to something such as graduating high school or college. Involvement is participation in activities such as sports, community service, and other activities. People who are involved in activities have less time to commit delinquent acts due to their time constraint. Belief is having moral values such as obeying the law because that individual believes it is the right thing to
