The song Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers describes the part of Act 1 Scene 1 where Romeo and Benvolio are talking about Romeo’s love for Rosaline. This song goes well with this scene because it is about the sadness and emptiness that a person feels when they love someone but they are not loved back. In this scene, Romeo is wallowing about how in love he is with Rosaline, but she doesn’t love him back. “Out of her favour where I am in love.” (1.1.163) Rosaline is never available for Romeo to win her heart. In the song Ain’t No Sunshine, Bill Withers sings about how the person he loves is the sunlight in his life, but when she’s not there, he is cold and depressed. In my version of Romeo and Juliet, this song would be playing in the background
