Every choice I make defines me as a person and as a leader. I realized the importance my decisions after a dilemma I was put in during my senior year in high school. Attending the Air Force Academy and becoming an Air Force officer has been a dream of mine ever since the sixth grade. Since that moment I changed my attitude on many aspects of my life to achieve my dream to attend the Air Force Academy.

One of the most important choices I made in high school was to join Air Force JROTC. Joining the program as a freshmen challenged me to do my best and achieve beyond what I expected of myself. As a result of my hard work I was appointed two different leadership positions the very next year and became one of rising sophomores who received a JROTC leadership school slot. My junior year I became an officer and cultivated my leadership skills as I transitioned from a follower role to a leadership role. And before I knew it the school year started and everything shifted into overdrive. My responsibilities doubled and my workload tripled. AP classes, JROTC, volunteering for my church, and my application to the Air Force Academy became my porites. As the year started to progress I started to notice a pressing problem in my JROTC unit, we were falling behind due to a lack of leadership. Many tasks were unfinished and we were falling behind on our cadet set goals. As Deputy Commander, I was fulfilling my duties to the corp but the Commander was not. At this very moment, I was given a choice, to sacrifice everything and focus on fixing my unit or do all I can for my responsibilities and hope for the best. I knew I couldn't do it all by myself, so using my leadership skills I brought the crop together and faced this problem head-on.
