(The Quotations Page) A boy, raised in a large, hardworking Italian family that was raised around gang violence, decides to hang around with the wrong group of people. As a result, he goes from being a young boy to becoming one of the most notorious gangsters in American history. From money laundering to the Saint Valentine’s Day massacre, his name has become a household legend to this day. Al Capone, an Italian-American gangster, was a very important person in the world of crime in America. One of these incidents led to him receiving his infamous nickname, Scarface. This incident happened while working at the Harvard Inn. Someone by the name of Frank Galluccio cut Capone on his left cheek, leaving a scar. The reason Frank slashed Capone was because Capone insulted Frank's sister. But it was the brutal murder of a low-level gang member of the rival White Hand Gang that led to his upbringing. The White Hand Gang wanted to retaliate against Capone and his family. Because of this, Francesco Leolo sent Capone and his family to the great, prosperous city of Chicago. Another reason Francesco Leolo sent Capone to Chicago was so that he could follow in the footsteps of his mentor, Johnny Torrio. Johnny Torrio went from Chicago to New York. Johnny went to Chicago to help run a ginormous brothel business owned by the crime boss, Big Jim Colosimo. Either Torrio or Capone later assassinated him. This allowed Torrio to become the new crime boss of Chicago. Around the year 1924, Torrio got into trouble in prison and, after being dismissed, retired back to Italy, leaving Capone as the crime boss of Chicago, leaving him with plenty of new opportunities for wealth and success that eventually led him to impact many all around …show more content…

Capone was respected by everyone, from friend to foe, and didn’t let other people get in his way of achieving greatness. Capone is one of the main reasons the prohibition era was filled with too much organized crime. Sadly, after Capone got arrested, he wasn’t known as the Czar of crime in Chicago. "Although Capone was still young at the time, his being sentenced to prison marked the end of his reign as head of the Chicago mob." (Gale). Capone has many businesses in prostitution. But Capone was an honest man and wasn’t known as a pimp. Capone also owned many casinos where he could launder his money and so much more.
