Alexander III was born on March 10th, 1845. He was the son of Alexander II of Russia and Maria Alexandrovna. He ruled as the Emperor of Russia, King of Poland, and Grand Duke of Finland. Being a conservative he undid some of the liberal reforms of his father; Alexander II. Also, he fought no major wars during his reign and was given the nickname “The Peacemaker”. Bloody Sunday which is also known as Red Sunday is the event that happened on Sunday, January 22nd, 1905 in St Petersburg, Russia. Unarmed protesters led by Father Georgy Gapon were shot by soldiers of the Imperial Guard as they arrived at the Winter Palace to present a petition to Tsar Nicholas II.
