All of our great leaders had one thing in common. Leadership. All of our great leaders have a different approach. Leaders have to have great attitude, they have to know what they want, and they have to always be accepting of the truth. Being a leader doesn’t mean being a President or a Vice President, people like Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass made a huge impact on the abolitionist movement, and they were fugitive slaves!

The key to successful leadership is influence, not authority. Based on my reading of The Epic of Gilgamesh, I found that influence of the leader in the Ancient Near East, was pivotal in order for the society to function. The Mesopotamian society had three major factors; economics, politics, and a system of values. All of these factors were intertwined, where one factor has influence on all the others. So when someone like Gilgamesh relies on his ability to lead only with authority, the society begins to divide.
Alexander the great was a hero and a villain but he was also a hero, in my eyes he was more of a hero because he was very courageous and smart not only that but also he conquered a lot of land. Some philosophers say that his skill was not natural and a gift from the gods. Alexander made numerous contributions to his kingdom and his soldiers to boost morale and win nearly impossible battles. Alexander was a very smart strategist and a clever commander.
Throughout a lifetime there are maybe a few people that are said to be “great leaders.” As years go by the appreciation for these leaders seems to grow. Few people have completely changed the world in their lifetime. Alexander the Great (356-323 BCE), through his unprecedented military campaign, may proudly lay claim to such an achievement. Historians for centuries have been entranced by the mystique and legend of Alexander and his conquests. Copious amounts of scholarship persistently probe the sources looking for subtleties, but seldom focus on the interaction between Alexander’s stellar battle tactics and his army’s equipment, namely the sarissa. Conscientious scrutiny of the Macedonian weapons used during the fourth century BCE campaigns reveals that the tactical decisions made by Alexander directly resulted from the strengths and weakness of his men’s equipment.
Alex Ahmann 2/8/17 English Word count 805 Alexander the Great was possibly one of the most distinctive generals of all time not losing a single war. Born to Olympias and Philip II on July 20/21 356 B.C., he had a large reputation to live up to. Unfortunately dying on June 10/11 323 B.C. at age 32 ended his life very short. Philip II was (for the most part) supportive of Alexander, teaching him all he needed to know about being a leader, influencing many cultures that would look up to him and some even think he was a god. One of his greatest traits was that he was always motivated, probably because he never lost a battle.
I believe that Alexander the Great was a very good leader. He had the attributes many leaders would love to have. Attributes including his personality, war style, and intelligence. He was certaintly destined to be aa leader and on top of it all, a great and influencing leader that has ever been mentioned in history. In the next paragraph we will see exactly what I speak about, the evidence one cannot deny.

He conquered all of Persia, rode a horse that no one else could ride, and spread Greek culture everywhere he went. All of that sounds good, but is it really great? The question is; was Alexander really that great?
There are many things a king needs to be great. A king needs to be well-liked by his subjects to prevent being overthrown. Kings also need confidence, and substantial knowledge of the land and of the people he rules. In order to call the important shots that impact an entire nation, a king needs a thorough thought process to reach the proper decision.
