There was no cell phones he couldn 't call anyone and there was no escaping. Each day he would work and starve and if he was caught not working he would be killed.
All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarqueis a book about a German soldier Paul Bäumer and some of his friends from school who joined the army voluntarily after their teacher talked about joining the war. The group of nineteen year olds started the war with a great sense of nationalism and enthusiasm, but after experiencing ten weeks of hard training from Corporal Himmelstoss and the brutality of life on the front. Paul and his friends realize that the reasons of for which they enlisted are simply meaningless after some time on the front. Also, Paul and his friend realize that war is not as glorious or honorable as it is made out to be, and constantly lived in strain both mental and physical.
Review All Quiet on the Western Front is great piece of literature because it incorporates a lot of different aspects into the book. It has the action of war, the happiness of friendship, and the sorrowness of loss and given up hope. It varies from other books i have read about war and loss because it gives a perspective that I have never seen through before. The book is based on the lives of German soldiers in World War I, rather than the usual book through the eyes of an American soldier.
1- Technological advances in machine guns and tanks allowed for greater accuracy and larger explosion range caused faster deaths. 2- The soldiers were traumatized and couldn't work well when they went back to their environment. Pg 828 #1-2 1- Paul realized the soldier was still alive after their altercation.
In a time of great nationalism, Remarque showed the true horrors of war which many did not know, for they were told war was noble. All Quiet On the Western Front breaks the illusion painted by the leaders of all countries, showing the true loss of life, and mental and physical effects that war had on the soldiers. As a veteran soldier from the Western Front himself, Remarque experienced the horrors that were not mentioned when he was told to sign up and help his country. Remarque tells how the many young men forced to fight in the war under their older commanders had their lives completely destroyed, even if they survived.
All Quiet on the Western Front taught me many new lessons about the war. The book had showed everything from good to bad. I found the book very interesting and a good resource to learn more about the war. Paul had been the longest soldier who had fought out of his group. Paul had overcome many challenges and had experienced many different events.

All the common commodities are gone with this generation they've lost family themselves at war and the ability to have good boots they are the generation of losing. Another thing that the book touched on was how when the guys lost their humanity and became savages and heartless it actually helped them out in the war this shows how the war took the humanity from the guys who went to war. Paul and his compadres are considered the lost generation because straight out of high school they were enlisted in the war or drafted.
The novel All Quiet on the Western Front demonstrates a theme, war can be physically and psychologically harming. In this book it constantly shows examples of characters being harmed physically, but they also get mentally torn apart. An example of mental pain is when Paul goes on leave to visit home. He experienced severe PTSD and felt like he didn't belong there anymore because of his experiences. “I find I do not belong here anymore, it is a foreign world” (Remarque 168).
Identify and describe the themes of All Quiet on the Western Front. (15 points) I was not there for most of the movie, but the themes were war and what happens to people during the war. Though many movies try to romanticize war and make it look like a happy place where there is only pride and joy for the country they are serving. This movie shows people what war is actually like, it doesn’t really sugarcoat much about war.
The huge attack of Iraq on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001 left an everlasting impact on the US. On this day many fatalities occurred and much sadness fell upon the world. The first plane of terrorist flew into the North Tower, with a couple of minutes between the second plane flew into the South Tower. The effects of this disaster on the United States were many, including the immediate aftermath/roughage, the airlines, the economy, and the ongoing wars.
