The love triangle of one generation leads to the tragedy of another generation.
Love Triangles end in tragedy since a love relationship usually is an exclusive relationship between two people. In the marriage vow of two people, it states till death do us part. In the end of this love triangle, there is no winner. It may seem like there is a winner but there is never a winner in love triangles. The Duke of Cornwall, Gorlois has a conflict with King Uther and have been at war with each other for a while. King Uther seeks a truce with Gorlois and King Uther perhaps hoped to meet Gorlois’ gorgeous wife, Igraine. King Uther invites Gorlois and Igraine to his party and immediately

King Uther was fighting the war to gain the love of Igraine. Merlin uses a magic potion and gives it to Uther to be able to lay with Igraine in Castle Tintagel. Uther used the potion given by Merlin to disguise himself as Gorlois to lay with
Igraine. After Igraine and the “assumed” Gorlois’, who was actually King Uther were in bed together, Igraine becomes pregnant and does not know that her husband, Gorlois had been slain by King Uther’s army. The trickery or Merlin and King Uther resulted in Igraine’s pregnancy and Arthur’s birthing. The prophecy of Merlin came true. Merlin had for told King Uther that Igraine and King Uther would have a child together and that child who’s Arthur would rule and one day die after saving the country. In order for that to happen, Merlin had to assure Gorlois’ death. Eventually King Uther dies and his son Arthur, who was born by Igraine becomes King and rules the country but dies due to betrayal and love triangle with his best friend, Lancelot, a Knight of The Round Table and his wife, Guinevere who had loved Lancelot even though was married to King Arthur. The result of Uther Pendragon falling in love with Igraine lead to Gorlois’ death, therefore making Uther, Igraine and Gorlois’ love triangle a
