An individual’s blindness to the truth about his existence is relative to the questioning of reality. In the science-fiction film, The Matrix, directed by the Wachowskis, when Anderson discovers the new world of the Matrix he learns that humanity has been incarcerated by intelligent machines and he is the one and only one who can salvage the world. Many historical stories exist for the idea that the world is a semblance, and The Matrix is indisputably infused with references to Plato and his writing, “Allegory of the Cave”, as well as Judeo-Christian teachings.

Neo is referred to throughout the film as “the One”, the chosen one, which also describes Jesus Christ - a messiah, sent to deliver salvation. References to Christianity proliferate in the film, which is an allegory for the Christian faith and that Neo is a modern-day Jesus. The Matrix is remarkable for the breadth and depth of its religious references to Christianity. Though pervasive and often thorough, none of the religious references build into a cohesive allegory, and many of them appear and disappear quickly. In the film, Choi, says to another, "Hallelujah. You're my savior... my own Jesus Christ”, referencing Christianity. In addition, I also noticed that the plate in Morpheus's ship bears the inscription "Mark III No. 11", which could be an allusion to the Bible. In addition, after around 70 seconds, Neo is “resurrected”. Soon after, he also ascends into the heavens, referencing to the idea that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead after three days. Furthermore, Cypher’s role is akin to the role of Judas and his betrayal of Jesus Christ, as he, without a doubt, portrays Judas in the film. The only crewmember who says anything to Neo when Morpheus introduces the crew to him, Cypher depicts the biblical figure, Judas. Similar to how Judas betrays Jesus with a kiss, Cypher betrays Neo with a sneeze in the film. Furthermore, Morpheus is similar to an ideal Gospel writer who delivers news of a savior.
